Domestic Installer
For all work that is subject to notification, Domestic Installers must provide certain details to the NICEIC as soon as possible after completion of the work, and in any event within 25 days.
The NICEIC will check all notification information provided by Domestic Installers. Unless it is found to be incomplete or invalid, the information will be printed on to a Building Regulations Compliance Certificate and sent to the customer on the Domestic Installer’s behalf. At the same time, the information required for building control purposes will be forwarded electronically to the appropriate local authority.
Trust Mark
TrustMark is a quality mark which operates a framework under which 30 plus scheme operators work in the RMI (repair, maintenance and improvement) sector, including trade associations, local government trading standards teams, and independent scheme operators. These schemes are approved to carry the TrustMark logo and recruit reputable and trustworthy tradesmen. This enables the TrustMark scheme operators to promote improved RMI sector standards, and tackle related issues such as better enforcement. All of these scheme operators are audited annually by TrustMark, to ensure processes, standards and complaint procedures are being maintained.
Approved Contractor Scheme
NICEIC’s Approved Contractor Scheme is designed to maintain and publish a register of electrical contractors that have been assessed against a specific set of competency requirements, in particular the national electrical safety standardBS 7671 the IEE Wiring Regulations.
The register of contractors is formally known as the Roll of Approved Contractors and is operated by NICEIC under license from the Electrical Safety Council. The aim of the Roll is to promote the use of competent persons and provide users of contracting services with a single source directory of competent contractors.
